Matthew Perry Died From Acute Effects Of Ketamine, Autopsy Finds

Actor Matthew Perry died from the acute effects of ketamine in an accident, authorities announced Friday.

Perry was 54 years old when he died on October 28 at his Pacific Palisades home.

The autopsy listed drowning, coronary artery disease, and buprenorphine effects as contributing factors.

“Contributing factors in Perry’s death include drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine (used to treat opioid use disorder). The manner of death is an accident,” the statement said.

Perry was found unresponsive in a pool at his home, according to the medical examiner’s office.

“The Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to the scene and pronounced Perry deceased,” police said.

Perry was best known for his role in the hit show “Friends” and for his sarcasm and witty one-liners. Perry struggled with alcohol and drug use, often going in and out of rehab.
