U.K. Broadcaster E4 To Air ‘Big Brother VIP’ Amid Speculation Of ‘Big Brother’ Revival

The move marks the first time in over a year the country has aired any Big Brother related content.

(Fwrd Axis) — U.K. broadcaster E4 will air the recently completed season of Australia’s Big Brother VIP, marking the first time in over a year the country has aired any Big Brother related content.

Channel Seven in Australia aired the spin-off celebrity series last year in November with reality TV star and so-called political candidate Caitlyn Jenner taking part along with Omarosa Newman and Meghan Markle’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr, taking part.

The series averaged a dismal 330,000 viewers in overnight ratings, bombing with the Australian public. The news of E4 airing the series was met with fears from UK Big Brother fans who are worried the show may return with a revived format.

In a move seperate from other versions of the show around the world, the Australian format films the show months in advance. Additionally, the fans do not have a say in goes home, that stays in the hands of the housemates themselves until the live final when the viewers vote for the winner.

Production company Banijay is reportedly testing out the format in Australia in the hopes it can try it around the globe in other versions of the show.
