Cowboys Rout Lions In Prescott’s Return

The win saw the Dallas Cowboys bounce back from a loss last weekend to NFC East rival, the Philadelphia Eagles.

ARLINGTON, Texas (Fwrd Axis)Dak Prescott returned to the football for the first time in over a month on Sunday as the Dallas Cowboys used a lethal defensive performance to earn a 24-6 victory over the Detroit Lions (1-5) at AT&T Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The win saw the Dallas Cowboys bounce back from a loss last weekend to NFC East rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, who own the league’s best record at 6-0 entering Sunday’s slate of action. Prescott threw for a touchdown, his first of the 2022 season, and threw for 207 yards as he completed 19 of his 25 passing attempts.

“It was important for me to see that and to recognize that and know coming back, don’t try to do too much,” Prescott said. “I’m just trying to play my role and make sure that I put this team in the best chance to win.”

Dallas running back Ezekiel Elliott ran for 57 yards on 15 carries while scoring twice and backup Tony Pollard ran the ball 12 times for 83 yards.

The Cowboys’ defense put in work as it has done all season. With the Lions leading 6-3 in the second quarter, Trevon Diggs intercepted a pass from quarterback Jared Goff, setting up two Elliott touchdowns off two turnovers from Detroit.

“He’s relentless,” Prescott said of Elliott. “When I saw the play, I thought it was a little ugly. He said he’d be good and wasn’t too long before he was jumping a guy.”

Dallas got the ball back after rookie Sam Williams sacked Goff, forcing him to fumble as the Cowboys recovered. Prescott threw a 2-yard touchdown to rookie Peyton Hendershot for his first touchdown of the season.

“Starting with the command of the huddle and the whole operation, I thought he was really on point there,” Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy said. “They’re big things that don’t show up in the stat column. I thought he had a winning performance today.”
