CINCINNATI (Fwrd Axis) — Buffalo Bills‘ safety Damar Hamlin is in critical condition after collapsing on the field in Monday night’s NFL game between the Bills and Cincinnati Bengals, the league said.
Hamlin received CPR and was hooked up to an IV for nearly 10 minutes before an ambulance arrived on the field. The 24-year-old was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and his family was with him, according to the ESPN broadcast.
“Our thoughts are with Damar Hamlin and the Buffalo Bills. We will provide more information as it becomes available,” the NFL said in a statement.
Hamlin was injured after he made a tackle on Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, stood up, and then fell to the ground and did not move.
The league announced moments later the game was suspended and was then postponed. Both teams could be seen going into the locker room as the crowd at Paycor Stadium applauded in support of Hamlin.
This is a developing story and will be updated with more information.
