Democrats Raise Over $30M Hours After Biden’s Exit

ActBlue, the leading site processing Democratic donations, announced it had raised over $40 million from online donations in just six hours.

Hours after President Joe Biden announced his exit from the 2024 presidential race, Democrats donated over $40 million online Sunday, making it the single biggest day for online contributions since the 2020 election.

ActBlue, the leading site processing Democratic donations, announced it had raised over $40 million from online donations in just six hours following Biden’s announcement.

With Vice President Kamala Harris building momentum to claim the nomination, Democrats quickly rallied around the vice president, with $8 million coming in donations every hour.

“This might be the greatest fundraising moment in Democratic Party history,” wrote Kenneth Pennington, a Democratic digital strategist, on X.

The news is welcome for the Democrats after donations slowed among major Democratic donors in the weeks after Biden’s poor debate performance.

“As of 9pm ET, grassroots supporters have raised $46.7 million through ActBlue following Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign launch,” the small-dollar donor fundraising platform said in a statement. “This has been the biggest fundraising day of the 2024 cycle. Small-dollar donors are fired up and ready to take on this election,” the post read.
