Micah Parsons requested a trade from the Dallas Cowboys on Friday amid stalled contract negotiations, he confirmed in several posts on X.
The point: Parsons reported to training camp in California with the Cowboys last week but his upbeat attitude changed on Friday with a dramatic post on X.
- “I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet,” he wrote. “Unfortunately, I no longer want to be here.”
- Parsons added he told executive vice president of personnel Stephen Jones he wanted to be traded.
Why it’s relevant: Parsons is one of the best pass rushers in the game, recording 12 sacks in each of their first four seasons. The 2021 first-round draft pick has 52 1/2 for his career.
Going deeper: Last year, All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb was in the same situation. He was not around the team for the entire offseason and training camp until he agreed on a $136 million, four-year extension about two weeks before the season.
- Lamb posted on X as well, encouraging the Cowboys to sign Parsons to the extension.
