Micah Parsons Requests Trade From Dallas Cowboys Amid Stalled Contact Talks

Parsons is one of the best pass rushers in the game, recording 12 sacks in each of their first four seasons.

Micah Parsons requested a trade from the Dallas Cowboys on Friday amid stalled contract negotiations, he confirmed in several posts on X.

The point: Parsons reported to training camp in California with the Cowboys last week but his upbeat attitude changed on Friday with a dramatic post on X.

  • “I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet,” he wrote. “Unfortunately, I no longer want to be here.”
  • Parsons added he told executive vice president of personnel Stephen Jones he wanted to be traded.

Why it’s relevant: Parsons is one of the best pass rushers in the game, recording 12 sacks in each of their first four seasons. The 2021 first-round draft pick has 52 1/2 for his career.

Going deeper: Last year, All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb was in the same situation. He was not around the team for the entire offseason and training camp until he agreed on a $136 million, four-year extension about two weeks before the season.

  • Lamb posted on X as well, encouraging the Cowboys to sign Parsons to the extension.
  • “Never fails dawg. Just pay the man what you owe em,” he wrote. “No need for the extra curricular.”
