‘Big Brother UK’ Returns With a Twist That Has Fans Seeing Red

What was meant to be a dramatic launch has instead ignited fury among longtime viewers.

Big Brother returned to the UK on Sunday night as 12 brand new fresh faces entered the most famous house in Britain but before night was up, one housemate would be evicted, unleashing a twist on night one has left viewers seeing red.

Hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best welcome 12 new faces to take part in the ultimate social experiment. Among the new housemates were a pizza shop manager, a personal trainer, and a farmer.

One by one, they each were given a huge eye ball on stage before they entered the house. After all the housemates were inside, AJ and Will announced a flash vote for the public to vote on which housemates to give an “evil eye” to.

Big Brother then revealed the five housemates with the most votes were Emily, Nancy, Sam, Caroline and Cameron. Nancy and Cameron’s eyes lit up green, meaning they were safe. Meanwhile, Sam, Emily, and Caroline’s eyes were red — putting them in danger of being evicted.

The trio were then sent to the “safe room”, but only two of them will return. Speaking on “Big Brother: Late & Live”, Will appeared to hint that there will be no public eviction vote but the choice on who leaves will be down to the three inside the safe room.

Despite AJ and Will hyping up the “never done before” twist, viewers were left disappointment and angry that one housemate is leaving before the show truly gets underway.

“This is the most unpolished and poor ITV launch night so far. It’s like Big Brother is being run by students… and that’s doing a disservice to students,” X user and Big Brother superfan LewisJ815 said.

“Can we name and shame the shows producers? Someone needs to intervene before the show gets cancelled,” another user wrote on social media.

“not sure how i feel about this twist. not a fan of backdoor evictions ESPECIALLY on the first night,” a third user said.

Big Brother airs Sunday-Friday at 9pm on ITV2 and streams on ITVX.
