(Fwrd Axis) — The White House said President Joe Biden’s Covid symptoms are improving daily after he completed his second full day of treatment on the antiviral Paxlovid, his doctor said in a letter on Saturday.
The President will continue to take Paxlovid as planned and his symptoms will continue to be “treated supportively” with oral hydration, Tylenol, and an inhaler that he uses as needed.
“His primary symptoms, though less troublesome, now include sore throat, rhinorrhea, loose cough, and body aches,” White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor wrote. “His voice remains deep. His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and temperature remain entirely normal. His oxygen saturation continues to be excellent on room air. His lungs remain clear.”
O’Connor wrote that preliminary sequencing results indicate Biden’s causative agent is “likely” the Covid subvariant known as BA.5, which is now the cause for most coronavirus infections in the U.S.
“He is experiencing no shortness of breath at all. He will continue low-dose aspirin as an alternative type of blood thinner,” O’Connor added.
The news comes after Biden tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday and the White House credits his mild symptoms to being fully vaccinated and twice boosted.
First lady Jill Biden, who is at the couple’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, tested negative on Saturday, her spokesperson Michael LaRosa confirmed to FWRD AXIS News.
The President had several virtual meetings on Friday, including his daily intelligence briefing and a meeting with this economic team to discuss gas prices. During the meeting with his economic team, Biden sounded hoarse and cleared his throat several times.
“Let me start by apologizing for my voice, I’m feeling much better than I sound,” Biden said. He then gave a smile and a thumbs up when reporters in the auditorium asked how he was feeling.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that 19 individuals from members of Congress to senior White House staff have been informed they are a close contact with of President. First lady Jill Biden has had no symptoms and is currently spending time at the couple’s home in Wilmington, Delaware.
