Trump Attempted To Call White House Staffer In Talks With Jan. 6 Committee

It was reported the witness in question can corroborate part of what Cassidy Hutchinson had said under oath.

WASHINGTON (Fwrd Axis) — Former President Donald Trump attempted to call a White House supporter staffer that was in talks with the January 6 committee, FWRD AXIS News has confirmed.

The news comes after Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) said at the conclusion of Tuesday’s public hearing that the former president tried to call a witness following the last hearing and that witness contacted their lawyer, who then contacted the committee.

“After our last hearing, President Trump tried to call a witness in our investigation, a witness you have not yet seen in these hearings,” Cheney said. “That person declined to answer or respond to President Trump’s call and instead alerted their lawyer to the call; their lawyer alerted us.”

CNN was the first to report the witness works at the White House.

It was reported the witness in question can corroborate part of what Cassidy Hutchinson had said under oath.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, the chairman of the committee, told CNN that Trump’s attempt to contact that witness was enough to get the Justice Department involved.

“From my vantage point, it is highly unusual to do that, and that’s why we more or less put that in the hands of the Justice Department, for them to make that decision,” Thompson said. “We are concerned about witnesses’ safety.”

Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich declined to comment, instead calling to the media to reference his tweet from Tuesday when he was criticizing Cheney, the committee and the media.

“Let me say one more time: We will take any effort to influence witness testimony very seriously,” Cheney said Tuesday.
