Trump Digitally Signs MOU Sheet To End War With Iran

The interim agreement declares an “immediate and permanent termination of military operations” in the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran.

President Donald Trump digitally signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday, which laid out the terms for ending the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran.

The White House confirmed that Trump signed the memorandum on Wednesday while at dinner at the Palace of Versailles with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife.

Asked by reporters about the signing, Trump replied as he was leaving Versailles, “It’s signed. Signed in Versailles. Just signed it.”

U.S. officials confirmed the memorandum was signed digitally on Sunday by Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also signed the memorandum on Wednesday.

The U.S. is expected to lift sanctions on Iran and unfreeze funds and assets linked to the country’s regime under the agreement.

Under the agreement, the U.S. will “terminate all types of sanctions,” will “make fully available for use the frozen or restricted funds and assets,” and will begin the removal of its naval blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran also “reaffirms that it shall not procure or develop nuclear weapons,” with a mechanism to be “mutually agreed” upon relating to its “enriched material” stockpile.

One major point of criticism in the deal is that the U.S. to work with regional partners to develop a plan for at least $300 billion to be distributed to Iran for “reconstruction and economic development.”

The senior U.S. official downplayed this point and noted that the U.S. is not required to contribute to the fund.

“What it says is that if we get to a final deal and if the Iranians behave, we will permit the sanctions relief that would allow, for example, the Emiratis to build a power plant in Iran. That’s all it says,” the senior official said. “If they do what they have to do, we will permit the investment in the reconstruction of their country.”
