Trump Expected To Sign Over 100 Executive Orders Monday

Trump, who will be sworn in at noon Monday, plans to sign several of the orders inside the U.S. Capitol.

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump plans to sign more than 100 executive orders on the first day of his second presidency, according to a person in his transition operation.

Trump, who will be sworn in at noon Monday, plans to sign several of the orders inside the U.S. Capitol after the inauguration and more in front of a crowd at Capital One Arena in Washington later in the afternoon.

“You’re going to see executive orders that are going to make [you] extremely happy, lots of them. “We have to set our country on the proper course,” Trump said Sunday at a rally at Capital One Arena. “By the time the sun sets tomorrow evening, the invasion of our borders will have come to a halt, and all the illegal border trespassers will in some form or another, be on their way back home.”

According to an official, Trump will sign executive orders on border security, energy, reducing the cost of living for American families, and ending DEI programs across the federal government.

The official said Trump will sign multiple “omnibus” executive orders that each contain dozens of major executive actions.

Trump plans to declare a national border emergency; direct the U.S. military to work with the Department of Homeland Security to fully secure the southern border; begin deportations on Tuesday; and establish a national priority to eliminate all criminal cartels operating on U.S. soil.

According to a Trump official, the executive orders will include:

  • Declaring a national emergency on the U.S.-Mexico border
  • Rescinding any DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) or gender-related directives from the Biden administration
  • Designate cartels as foreign terrorist organizations
  • Repeal rules on electric vehicles (which Trump to ABC News in an interview on Saturday)
  • Offset limits for offshore drilling on federal land

Trump will also direct designations of cartels as foreign terrorist organizations and re-institute “Remain in Mexico,” and direct the military to construct a new area of border wall.

Trump has long promised to reinstate the “Schedule F” policy he announced nearthe end of his first term in 2020. He would reclassify thousands of federal civil service jobs so it would be easier to fill them with appointees committed to implementing his agenda.

Stephen Miller, the incoming White House deputy chief of staff for policy, held a phone briefing with GOP lawmakers about the orders.
